2013-2014 Cleveland Cavaliers season preview

With the NBA season quickly approaching the Cleveland Cavaliers might be the most surprising team in the eastern conference. With returning young stars still developing and the addition of veteran talent; The Cavaliers look to make the playoffs for the first time since the 2009-2010 NBA season.

With both Kyrie Irving and Tristan Thompson entering their 3rd year into the league they are looked at as leaders of the team and players that will finally lead this team into the playoffs. Along with 2nd year players Dion Waiters and Tyler Zeller playing key roles to the team’s development and with the success of the team. The Cavaliers also look to have back fan favorite Anderson Vareajo who missed most of last season due to injury and a unfortunate blood clot in his lung. This past off-season also saw the Cavaliers bring in a good amount of veteran leadership that this team has lacked for the past few years. With the signings of 9 year veteran Jarrett Jack, 5 year veteran Earl Clark, and possibly the biggest free agent signing in the history of the Cavaliers organization 8 year veteran Andrew Bynum. The Cleveland Cavaliers continued to add young talent to this roster in this past year’s draft with the number 1 overall pick Anthony Bennett out of UNLV. Bennett is a 6’8 240 ILBs SF/PF that will assume a key role off the bench. Along with the 19th overall pick in the draft Sergey Karasav who comes all the way over from Russia.

Possibly the biggest key to the hope and excitement for the upcoming season is the return of Mike Brown as head coach. The same coach that was fired after the 2009-2010 NBA season, and recently fired just 5 games into the 2012 NBA season by the Los Angeles Lakers returns to Cleveland. Coach Brown looks to lead the Cavaliers back to the playoffs for the first time in four seasons.

This upcoming Cavaliers season has the most upside going into the season since the beginning of the 2009-2010 season. With the group of young talent and veteran talent this team has put together this off-season; this is definitely a season that all Cleveland Cavalier fans want to be a part of.
