Here are my NFL week 12 picks against the spread; My record the last 2 weeks(week 10 & 11)- 17-9-3
New Orleans Saints at Atlanta Falcons- The Saints are giving away 9 points. As clearly stated throughout the entire NFL universe; The Falcons have been the most disappointing team this year and the Saints have been one of the best teams in the entire NFL. 9 points are a lot to give up to a team especially with them being at home, but the Falcons have too many injuries to compete with the Saints. So I’ll be taking the Saints and give away the 9 points.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Detroit Lions- The Lions are giving away 9 points. The Buccaneers have somehow found some life and have looked like a real NFL team these past 3 games and have won 2 in a row. The Lions are coming off a bad loss on the road in Pittsburgh. In my eyes the Lions are still the best team in the NFC North and should win this game easily with their high powered offense. I’ll be taking the Lions giving away the 9 points.
Jacksonville Jaguars at Houston Texans- The Texans are giving away 10 points. While the Jaguars have won a game, they are still the worst team in the NFL and that get compounded this week by being on the road. Texans coach Gary Kubiak named fan favorite Case Keenum as the starter; In hopes to somehow bring a bright spot to what has been a very disappointing season. This is the 3rd high spread of the week and like the first two I will be giving away the points and take the Texans.
Minnesota Vikings at Green Bay Packers- The Packers are giving away 4.5 points. The Vikings have a questionable Adrian Peterson coming into this game, and although he most likely will play he won’t be at 100% this week. Even at 100% I doubt the Vikings would have a chance against the Packers who have finally found a consistent running game with Eddie Lacy and with this being Scott Tolzien’s second start he should have more a feel for the offense. Give the Packers to win and cover the 4.5 point spread.
San Diego Chargers at Kansas City Chiefs- The Chiefs are giving away 5 points. Following their first loss of the season the Chiefs look to bounce back and stay in the division playoff picture with a win against the Chargers. While the Chargers look to stay in the AFC wild card hunt with a win this weekend. The Chiefs’ defense is just too good at home and with that I will be taking the Chiefs and give way the 5 points.
Carolina Panthers at Miami Dolphins- The Panthers are giving away 4.5 points. Although the ending of the game has been discussed more than the GW drive Cam Newton had; The Panthers showed last Monday that their team is a legit playoff contender and that team leader Cam Newton is here to stay in the NFL. The Miami Dolphins are just too much of a mess; While the Panthers are probably the hottest team in the NFL. Give me the Panthers giving away the 4.5 points.
Pittsburgh Steelers at Cleveland Browns- The Browns are giving away 1.5 points. While it seems crazy to think both of these teams have the same record(4-6); They both have had different routes of getting their. The Steelers have won 4 out of their last 6 games, while the Browns have lost 4 out of their last 5 games. It looks like the Steelers are starting to win at the right time, and the Browns are losing hope to what could have been a fun AFC wild card run. Give me the Steelers and the 1.5 points this weekend.
Chicago Bears at St. Louis Rams- The Rams are giving away the 1.5 points. The Bears are back to starting back-up QB Josh McCown and the Rams have back-up QB Kellen Clemens in, so we get to see a battle of the back-ups this week in St.Louis. The Bears won a bizarre game this past weekend against the Ravens; While the Rams had a bye week. The Bears have a banged up defense, but have more talent on offense than the Rams do, so I will go with the Bears and take the 1.5 points.
New York Jets at Baltimore Ravens- The Ravens are giving away 3.5 points. The Jets were embarrassed last week in Buffalo as they got blown out 37-14. The Ravens were in a game that got suspended(shockingly), but ended up losing in OT to the Bears. Both of these team need this win to help their AFC wild card position, but I see the Ravens winning the game and covering the 3.5 point spread.
Tennessee Titans at Oakland Raiders- This is the only game this weekend that is a pick’em. The Titans are coming off of a game they should have won last Thursday against division rival Indianapolis Colts, and the Raiders are coming off a win in Houston against the Texans. The Raiders have Matt McGloin starting for the second straight week for the injured Terrelle Pryor. With this game being in Oakland; I like the Raiders to use home field advantage and get the win this weekend.
Indianapolis Colts at Arizona Cardinals- The Cardinals are giving away 2 points. The Cardinals are probably the most underrated team in the entire NFL. They have a 6-4 record(tied with the 49ers) and are very alive in the NFC wild card picture. The Colts had yet another come from behind victory last Thursday night against the Titans. This matchup also has Bruce Arians; Who was the interim coach for the Colts last year for the ill Chuck Pagano, now is the head coach of the Cardinals. I will pick the most underrated team in the NFL the Cardinals to win this game and cover the spread.
Dallas Cowboys at New York Giants- The Giants are giving away 2.5 points. What a crazy year for the New York football Giants. A team that started 0-6, and now have won 4 in a row are back in not only the NFC wild card picture, but the NFC East picture. A division that went from the best to almost the worst division in the NFL. The division leader Eagles(on a bye) are 6-5, and could be only leading this division by 1 game or tied by the end of this week. The Cowboys have been one of the most overrated teams for the last few years and I think most of that falls back onto the owner Jerry Jones. The Cowboys gave up 49 points in their last game against the Saints; and the Giants have scored 24 or more in the last 2 games. It’s amazing what the Giants have done this year and they continue to amaze as they win this week and cover the 2.5 point spread.
Denver Broncos at New England Patriots- The Broncos are giving way 2.5 points – After a very controversial ending to their game Monday night, the Pats look to bounce back this week and beat one of the best teams in the NFL. The Broncos are coming off of a win over the Chiefs who were the only undefeated team in the NFL. Once again we get the matchup everyone loves between Peyton Manning and Tom Brady, and this time we add in the factor of Wes Welker possibly making his New England return with the Broncos. A game that will absolutely live up to the hype it’s given, give me the Broncos to win and cover 2.5 point spread.
San Francisco 49ers at Washington Redsksins- The 49ers are giving away 6 points. The Redskins are having one of the most off the field problems as any team in the NFL, and the 49ers have lost 2 game in a row. The saying goes “Don’t pick the home dog on Monday night”, but in a game between a team that has playoff hopes and a team that has underachieved. I will be taking the 49ers winning and giving away the 6 points.
