No Punk; Big Problem?

CM Punk was the longest defending WWE Champion in the last 25 years with his reign of 434 days, but now Punk has another streak of days associated with him. That number is 37 days since the WWE Universe has last seen Punk on a WWE program. Last night’s was supposed to be the return of Punk in his hometown, but that is not what happened. For the past 5 going onto 6 weeks fans have talked about last night’s Raw being the perfect night for the return, and if there wasn’t a return the backlash the WWE receives would be brutal. Well the return never happened and the backlash hasn’t been bad, but could the backlash that has been talked about be later on down the road the biggest event of the year?

Ever since we last saw Punk the WWE Universe has been given no real, hardcore reasoning behind why we would suddenly just go home during WrestleMania season. The time of the year were mid-card performers can make a name for themselves and become main event players, where main event players become legends and where legends become icons. Why would Punk pick right now to go home when he is guaranteed a spot at WrestleMania30 against possibly HHH; Why would Punk leave before the big payday he would receives for fighting at WM30? Is Punk trying to make a statement with this walk out? While the WWE universe wan’t exactly be given these answers some of the answers have been thrown out their, but it’s up to you to find it out.

It has been on record that Punk’s current contract with the WWE expires this July with no report of him agreeing to a contract to extend it. This current contract is from when he made his “Pipebomb” promo in 2011. During his contract Punk become the longest reigning WWE Champion in the last 25 years, but was not given something that has been “rumored” to be in his contract. Although Punk held the WWE title for 434 days he was never given the main event match at WrestleMania. The Rock in WrestleMania 28 & 29 along with John Cena took that moment away from him. Every WWE superstar wants to be the main event, last match of the night at WrestleMania & Punk is no different. With WM30 right around the corner and yet another former wrestler returning Punk was pushed to the side & passed up once again to be in the WM30 main event. Batista returns and wins the Royal Rumble to headline WM30 against WWE World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton. Which leaves CM Punk no title, no main event match & no fulfillment of his contract.

CM Punk was “rumored” to be in line to fight HHH at this year’s WM30 which is a big match especially with HHH fighting Brock Lesnar last year & the Undertaker the two years before that, BUT fighting HHH is not a main event match. Which would have left the main event of the biggest event of the year to be Randy Orton vs Batista. As written before Batista’s return is at the worst time possible for him. The match between just these two will be “booed” heavily with no interest from the viewing audience at home, and no interest from the fans in attendance. 33 days away from WrestleMania night & the main event is looking worse and worse each day. Does the looming CM Punk return lead to him being put into the match to make it a 3-way to salvage the main event, or does Punk not return & hope it fails so he can have more leverage?
