2014 Extreme Rules Predictions

Tonight is the first PPV(Special Event) since WrestleMania30 and it comes to you live from the IZod Center in East Rutherford New Jersey. The pre-show starts at 7 Eastern time with Extreme Rules kicking off at 8 Eastern time.

El Torito vs Hornswoggle(Pre-show) in a WeeLC match- Tonight’s pre-show match gives me no real interest, and I believe in the long run is a waste of time. Allowing El Torito and Hornswoggle to have a match is beyond me, and not allowing people like Damien Sandow, Dolph Ziggler, Titus O’Neal, and other mid-card talent the opportunity to have a pre-show match irritates me. This match doesn’t help the WWE grow their roster, and it doesn’t help the WWE Universe get behind any superstar. But with that all said I will pick a winner and El Torito will be victorious.

Alexander Rusev vs R-Truth & Xavier Woods- With the Ravishing Russian Lana on his side Alexander Rusev has been absolutely dominating ever since making his WWE Raw debut. Rusev has recently defeated both R-Truth, and Xavier Woods in singles matches, and will now be put in a handicap match against the two. Tonight we might see Rusev be on the defensive, but not for long as Rusev wins his first PPV match as a full-time WWE superstar.

Big E vs Bad News Barrett for the Intercontinental Championship- In the first of three title defenses we will see tonight Big E puts his Intercontinental Championship on the line against three time IC Champ Bad News Barrett. Barrett is the winner of the Intercontinental Championship number one contender tournament as received this match because of that. Barrett was a fan favorite to win the tournament and could very well be the next IC Champ. While the run Big E has had as champion has been lack luster after the hot start he had prior to winning the belt; I believe it is time for a title change. Barrett defeats Big E and wins the IC belt for the fourth time in his career.

Paige vs Tamina for the Divas Championship- The second title defending tonight is the Divas Championship as Paige will defend the title against Tamina. This is Paige’s first ever PPV, and she will have a tough task as she faces one of the tallest and strongest divas in the WWE. After shockingly beating AJ Lee for the belt; Paige has shown the WWE Universe that she has some amazing moves she can perform in the ring, and could quickly become a fan favorite. Paige’s style is completely different from Tamina’s and with the WWE giving Paige this big platform to perform on I believe we see her successfully defend her belt tonight and win.

Cesaro vs RVD vs Jack Swagger in an elimination triple threat match- A rivalry that started with Cesaro and Jack Swagger has now put Rob Van Dam right in the middle it. Swagger cost Cesaro a chance to win the Intercontinental Championship number one contender tournament, and Cesaro did the same exact thing to RVD which leads us to tonight. With Paul Heyman in Cesaro’s corner and Zeb Colter in Swagger’s corner, RVD seems to be the only man without a manager. Or could we see the return of Ricardo Rodriguez as RVD’s manager? I highly doubt we do, but in the end it wouldn’t surprise me if something similar to that happens to even the playing field. Cesaro’s overall momentum is in the hands of the fans and Heyman. Cesaro could be a big time player in the WWE for the next few years; while Swagger’s only way to stay relevant is with Colter. Tonight’s match will further develop the feud between Cesaro and Swagger and even the two managers Heyman and Colter. With Heyman and Colter on the outside they will cause a distraction which allows RVD to pick up the win in tonight’s triple threat elimination match.

The Shield vs Evolution- The two most dominate groups during their time in the ring meet in what could be the match of the night. The re-formation of Evolution look to show The Shield that they can either adopt or perish. While The Shield look to show Evolution that they need to “believe in the shield”, and that the hounds of justice could become the best trio in WWE history. With Triple H back at the head of Evolution along with Randy Orton and Batista they all look to bounce back from their WM30 lost to Daniel Bryan; While The Shield look to continue their PPV winning ways tonight. In the weeks leading up to this matchup both groups have seemed to have the upper hand with The Shield standing tall and together in the ring last week on Raw. Tonight’s match will further help push Roman Reigns as the dominate leader of The Shield and we could possibly see a tease of what could happen later this summer between Reigns and HHH. In a match that could go either way and will be sure to give the fans everything they want in this type of make and even more I “believe in The Shield” as Reigns, Rollins and Ambrose take down Evolution and win.

John Cena vs Bray Wyatt in a steel cage match- “He’s got the whole world in his hands” and tonight inside a steel cage Bray Wyatt could possibly finish the night with even more at the end of the match. Bray has done a fantastic job going all the way back to his promos for WM30 against John Cena, and leading up to this match tonight has been no different. Cena has been dealing with if the WWE Universe is starting to turn on him, and whether or not to let it finally get to him. Could tonight be the the beginning of the end of the “superhero” role Cena plays as Bray continues to get in his head, and continues to get more “sheep”. I strongly believe the opportunity is there for Cena to finally make that “heel” turn that most fans are finally hoping for, and tonight could be the start of it. Many believe Bray doesn’t need to win to help the Cena turn happen, but I beg to differ. A loss by Cena tonight could make everything unravel, and help give Bray an even bigger push. With that being said I think we do see Bray win tonight and the start of the Cena heel turn begins.

Daniel Bryan vs Kane in an Extreme Rules match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship- The WWE Universe finally gets the return of Daniel Bryan to action, and also the return of the masked Kane in a match. After a few weeks of punishment and terror given out from Kane to Bryan; Bryan looks to rebound and show that he is the right champion for the WWE, and that he won’t back down from anyone. While plenty of fans don’t see Kane as a big name anymore the monster imagine portrayed helps boost the imagine of Bryan as the underdog champion. While booking Bryan with Kane might backfire in the minds of WWE officials the WWE Universe will always strongly be behind Bryan, and this could become a lengthy title run for the leader of the “Yes Movement”. The Authority could try to get involved tonight, but that will not stop Bryan from successfully defending his title and getting a clean victory over Kane.

Being the PPV to follow WM30 is always difficult but the major matches in the end will carry this PPV. Lots of big names wrestling tonight with HHH, Cena, Orton, Batista, Bryan, Bray & The Shield all fighting and all in the top 3 matches. Most of the rivalries tonight I see growing tonight with possibly one ending(I don’t know) which will end, but I would much rather see almost all of these storylines continue.
