WrestleMania 31 Brock Lesnar(C) Vs….?

We are just around the corner from WrestleMania season, and that means the Royal Rumble will be here before we know it. Ever since 1988 the Royal Rumble has been the marquee WWE event where the winner gets put into the main event match at WrestleMania for the World Heavyweight Championship. This year WrestleMania31 will be located in San Francisco, California in new Levi’s Stadium the home of the San Francisco 49ers.

Current WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar has had one of the best years in WWE history, and that starts with Lesnar defeating The Undertaker at WrestleMania30 ultimately ending Undertaker’s 21-0 streak at the granddaddy of them all WrestleMania. His historic year continued at SummerSlam where he dominated John Cena in a match that lasted 16 minutes and 5 seconds to become the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Then at Night of Champions Lesnar(although via DQ) successfully defended his Championship against John Cena. Which leaves everyone in the WWE Universe asking two questions; When will Lesnar be defending his title again? And who will his title defense be against? Before we get to the Royal Rumble event, we have to get through three more events, Hell In The Cell(October 26th), Survivor Series(November 23rd), and Tables, Ladders, and Chairs(December 14th).

We know that Lesnar’s appearances are few and far between them, and he won’t be defending the title at all three events leading up to the Royal Rumble. Lesnar has dominated his last two opponents, and clearly appears to be the best option for the WWE to have as Champion going into WrestleMania season. Which brings us to the question that I am going to answer for you right now, and that’s; Who’s going to win the 2015 Royal Rumble? And face Lesnar for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

Roman Reigns- Back in the early 2000s Lesnar was considered “The Next Big Thing”, and now in 2014 Reigns has that title. Reigns has a long list of family members in the Wrestling industry with the biggest name being Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson(Cousin). Ever since his debut with The Shield in 2012; Reigns has been looked at as the future, and could be the guy who replaces John Cena as the company’s top guy. Since the group disbanded earlier this year Reigns has been on the fast track to a potential title reign in the very near future. While things are put on hold with his emergency surgery just a few weeks back; Reigns is scheduled to be on track to be back in time for the Royal Rumble. Reigns could have a surprise return at the event which would bring the roof off the building, and set up a potential dream match between Lesnar and Reigns. The possibility of having Reigns win his first title against Lesnar at WrestleMania31 would be big for not only him, but for the future of the entire company.

Daniel Bryan- The biggest victories in his WWE career came at last year’s WrestleMania. Where he defeated the COO Triple H in the opening match to put him in the main event match against Batista, and Randy Orton for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Where Bryan pulled off the biggest upset in the history of the WWE and became Champion. But his reign would be cut shorter than the WWE Universe and Bryan would have liked due to a neck injury that required surgery. Bryan underwent surgery on May 15th this year, and has been rarely been seen since. Reports have been out there that he doesn’t need any more surgeries, and on his road back to the WWE. Bryan who is 33(will be 34 in May) can still be a top guy and will be a top guy in the WWE upon his return. While his popularity might not reach where it was during WrestleMania season last year; Bryan will still be someone who will always be in the title picture. With him not being seen or heard from for the last few months because of his rehab, the Royal Rumble event is the perfect place for yet another superstar to return from an injury. With the potential of Bryan returning at the Rumble and possibly winning it sets up the David Vs Goliath storyline. Bryan who is 5’10 210, and Lesnar is 6’3 286, this matchup would be yet another obstacle for Bryan to overcome. In the real world we all know what the outcome would be, but in the world of Sports Entertainment anything is possible.

Ryback- This might come to as a surprise for all of you, but Ryback at the beginning of his run/push was very close to being WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Ryback has been off TV for sometime now with an injury, and successfully underwent surgery just like Reigns and Bryan. Before teaming with Paul Heyman; Ryback was one of the bigger crowd favorites in the WWE with his “Feed Me More” chants, and even the “Goldberg” chants. But once Ryback teamed up with Heyman his downward trend in the WWE started, and he almost fell off the face of the earth for the WWE Universe. Before his injury Ryback was teaming with another former Heyman Guy, Curtis Axel; and was starting to gain a little momentum with the WWE Universe once again. Could this be yet another Royal Rumble return? Yes, but he could return a few weeks before. By returning a few weeks before the Rumble it would allow him to rebuild his “face” character with the WWE Universe, and regain his dominance as a top “face” in the company. Ryback’s potential Rumble win would also setup a match between two powerhouse athletes in the WWE, and bring the Heyman storyline full circle. Ryback would be able to get back at Heyman for making him a “non-factor” in the WWE by defeating Lesnar for the title at WrestleMania31.

CM Punk- Yes; I know he walked out on the company back on January 27th 2014, and then in late July Punk stated that he was “never ever” returning to wrestling. But what we in the WWE Universe should know is that anything is possible in the WWE, and a CM Punk return is always possible. Even though WWE officials have taken jabs at Punk in the recent past the WWE will do anything that makes money and a Punk return does exactly that. Punk walked out at the height of his career, and the WWE Universe will welcome him back with open arms. Another surprise entrant into the Royal Rumble could be Punk, and would set up another major Punk Vs Heyman feud. With this one being held at the biggest event of the year, and with Punk finally getting his WrestleMania main event match. Punk’s return would bring back plenty of fans who left once he left, and would also give the WWE Universe one hell of a match between Punk & Lesnar.

Triple H- We haven’t seen him in a wrestling match since Evolution lost to The Shield at Payback, and we haven’t seen him compete in a Royal Rumble match since 2010, HHH would be The Authority’s last hope at regaining the title ever since Bryan won it back at WrestleMania30. HHH and Lesnar have a storied past ever since Lesnar returned to the WWE, and it could come to an ultimate end at WrestleMania31 if HHH would enter and win the Royal Rumble match. HHH’s main purpose to win the title from Lesnar is to get the belt back into the hands of The Authority, and could even give the title to the person of his choice instead of losing it someone. We all know HHH will have a match at WrestleMania31, but as of right now we don’t know who it will be against. HHH would be the last person in the WWE working for The Authority that would be able to get the title back in the hands of the bosses.

With the Royal Rumble right around the corner, and WrestleMania season almost here, give me your main guy you want to win the Royal Rumble, and to ultimately face Brock Lesnar for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMaina31.

Also give me a follow @Chucks93. I post all the time about MLB, NFL, NBA and of course the WWE. I hope you enjoy this post, and make sure you comment with your opinion.

  1. Punk vs Lesnar II would be awesome to see culminate at WrestleMania seeing as Punk was so close to defeating Lesnar in the show stealing match a few SummerSlams ago.

I’m not into Roman Reigns, to me he doesn’t have that it factor to be the face of the company. He’s too bland for my taste. He doesn’t have the fire like a Daniel Bryan or an overall impressive specimen that is a Cesaro.

I’m worried that Daniel Bryan’s time has come and gone, because I was totally behind the YES Movement before it had a label-pre-dating to ROH. Hell, imagine the story behind the fallen hero, the unbeaten champion, going up against the Beast Incarnate?

    1. If they do the Daniel Bryan vs Brock Lesnar match that way I would be totally behind it. The one I’m liking the most when it comes to storylines is Brock vs HHH. HHH would be the last person with “The Authority” that could get the title back on their side. HHH is successful in doing so, but Rollins turns on HHH by turning in his MITB briefcase & successfully cashing in. Giving him an unforgettable WrestleMania moment & also turning him face.
